BT is set to install nine street hubs in Bury, offering free Wi-Fi and phone calls. These hubs will also feature digital screens for community messaging and advertising.

Bury: BT is rolling out nine street hubs in the area. These hubs will provide free Wi-Fi and phone calls, plus some cool digital screens for ads and community info.
They’ve applied for planning permission to set them up in places like Bury town center, Prestwich, Radcliffe, and Whitefield. The idea is to boost public connectivity and keep everyone connected.
These hubs are designed to be user-friendly. You can hop online for free, make calls, and even get updates on local events or emergencies. They’ll also monitor things like air quality and traffic.
What’s neat is they run on renewable energy. BT promises to keep them clean and well-maintained, checking them weekly. They already have over 950 of these hubs across the UK.
BT says these hubs will replace old payphones, freeing up space on the sidewalks. Plus, they’ll offer free advertising for local councils and community groups.
Each hub will have two digital screens that show ads and local content. They’ll even dim at night to be less intrusive. Bury Council will review the plans soon.
