This new musical is a delightful throwback to the 80s. With catchy tunes and a fun storyline, it’s a must-see for anyone who loves that era.

Birmingham: This musical is a total blast from the past. It celebrates the NOW That’s What I Call Music! albums from the 80s. Seriously, it’s packed with cheesy hits that you just can’t resist.
Pippa Evans wrote it, and Craig Revel Horwood directed. The story flips between a 2009 class reunion and the 80s. You’ll meet Gemma and April, two friends dreaming big in 1989.
April, played by Maia Hawkins, wants to be a Hollywood star. Gemma, portrayed by Nikita Johal, has simpler dreams of being a nurse. Fast forward 20 years, and they’ve both reached their goals—kind of.
Older Gemma, played by Nina Wadia, is stuck with a cheating husband. Her dad, Phil Sealey, has a moment of clarity about her choices. It’s a mix of humor and heartfelt moments.
Tim, the husband, is a real piece of work. Kieran Cooper brings the laughs with his over-the-top antics. Older Tim, played by Chris Grahamson, is just as clueless, swooping on every attractive woman.
The costumes and dancing are fabulous, just like Craig would say. Think stonewashed denim and bright colors everywhere. It’s a visual treat!
Sonia, the pop star, is as cheerful as ever. But the real showstopper is Sam Bailey. Her performance of Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves is unforgettable. The crowd loved it!
Maia Hawkins also shines with Everybody Wants To Rule The World. The music is a blast, and the Brummie accents add to the fun.
From Girls Just Want To Have Fun to St Elmo’s Fire, it’s a party with a touch of emotion. It’s like hitting rewind on your favorite song. Don’t miss it, or you might just have a Heart of Glass!
