Manchester: A tragic accident unfolded when a cyclist was hit by a speeding Audi. The victim, Aron Qureshi, was just 39 years old. This happened on a busy road in Whalley Range on a Sunday afternoon.

The Audi, driven by Mohammed Dhiya Ali, was racing down Wilbraham Road. It was reportedly going way over the speed limit, hitting between 50 and 60 mph in a 30 mph zone. Sadly, it crashed into Mr. Qureshi while he was riding his bike.

In court, it was revealed that Ali had already admitted to causing death by dangerous driving and was sentenced to nearly five years in prison. His co-driver, Ateeb Qaiser, was found not guilty of the same charge but pleaded guilty to dangerous driving.

During the trial, it came out that Qaiser was driving his mom’s car and had been racing alongside Ali. The judge pointed out that this was a residential area, with parks and schools nearby, making the speeds they reached even more reckless.

Mr. Qureshi tragically passed away the day after the accident. The judge expressed her condolences to his family, emphasizing the loss they suffered. She made it clear that while Qaiser wasn’t directly responsible for the fatality, his actions contributed to the dangerous situation.

Qaiser received a suspended sentence of 12 months, along with community service and rehabilitation requirements. Meanwhile, Ali is serving his time in prison for his role in this heartbreaking incident.
