A historic building in Hale collapsed during Storm Eowyn, shocking locals. The incident was caught on video, showing debris falling as onlookers watched in disbelief.

Hale: A historic building crumbled under the force of Storm Eowyn. It was caught on camera, and the footage is quite something to see.
The red-bricked structure, built in the 1900s, was on Ashley Road. It had been empty for about two years, last housing Atticus bar.
Last week, cracks started appearing in the walls. Then, high winds from the storm made things worse. On Saturday, the building finally gave way.
Michael Haworth, who owns a nearby hair salon, filmed the collapse. He said it was a wild sight, with bricks peeling away and dust flying everywhere.
He mentioned that the building was condemned just days before. The hairdressers next door had reported cracks in their floor, prompting an inspection.
After the collapse, Trafford council closed off the area. They set up a cordon around the site and planned for a controlled demolition.
Michael shared that the building was being renovated to become a medical practice. There were plans for extensive work, including digging under the foundations.
He felt uneasy watching it come down, especially so close. The building had been creaking for a while, and he worried it might fall toward him.
Now, the road is completely closed off. A controlled deconstruction is expected to follow. The building had some interesting architecture, and it’s a shame to see it go.
