Middleton: A golf club is getting a makeover! North Manchester Golf Club is set to build a new clubhouse and 56 homes where the old one stands. Exciting, right?

The club got the green light to tear down its old clubhouse, pro shop, and function room. They plan to build a new clubhouse with some cool features, like four arches and a snooker room.

Imagine having an event room with stunning views of the lake and the fairway. Sounds like a great spot for gatherings!

Once the old clubhouse is gone, Duchy Homes will step in to build those 56 homes. They’ll be a mix of three, four, and five-bedroom houses, complete with parking and green spaces.

Back in 2019, a bigger plan was turned down because it could harm the green corridor. This time, some locals and councillors raised concerns about wildlife and possible contamination from an old dump nearby.

But don’t worry! Council planning officers assured everyone that experts will check this out as part of the planning conditions.

Nick O’Toole, the club’s chair, told the planning committee that this project is vital for the club’s future. He believes the current clubhouse is outdated and needs a refresh.

He added that this upgrade will help the club stay a valuable community spot for years to come. The planning committee agreed and approved the application unanimously.
