A shocking incident in Hyde left a man critically injured after being stabbed by a friend. The attacker, David Timperley, has been sentenced for his violent actions.
The incident happened on November 22, 2023. Timperley showed up at his friend’s home with a kitchen knife. They had been friends, and Timperley had even helped him during a seizure before.
But that night, things took a dark turn. The victim told Timperley he didn’t want to be disturbed. After a brief exchange, Timperley reached through the window and stabbed him.
At first, the victim didn’t realize he was hurt. It wasn’t until he saw blood pouring from his neck that he understood the severity. He managed to stagger to a neighbor’s house before collapsing.
Emergency services rushed him to Manchester Royal Infirmary, where he underwent life-saving surgery. The attack had severed a major artery, putting his life in danger. Thankfully, he spent about a week in the hospital and has since made a good recovery.
Timperley was arrested soon after but denied any involvement. He faced trial for attempted murder but was found not guilty. However, he did plead guilty to wounding with intent and possession of a knife.
The judge expressed concern over the lack of explanation for the attack. Timperley’s defense mentioned a disagreement but acknowledged his reaction was extreme.
In the end, the judge deemed Timperley a dangerous offender. He received a 14-and-a-half-year sentence, with two-thirds to be served in prison.
