Salford: A major road is closing soon. Frederick Road will shut for four weeks. This is to prepare for a new bridge in the city. The closure runs from February 3 to March 2.

The work will focus on the area between Lissadel Street and Leslie Hough Way. They’ll be installing new drainage connections at the Frederick Road and Wynne Street junction.

While the road is closed, there will be a diversion. Drivers can take Lissadel Street to Cromwell Road, then along Gerald Road and Seaford Road.

This new bridge will be 11 meters wide and 220 meters long. It’s part of the Salford Rise project, which aims to connect communities and promote walking and cycling.

The project is part of a bigger £2.5 billion plan to transform the city center. It will bring 3,000 new homes and spaces for research and businesses.

The Crescent Innovation area will be a 29-acre site with 933 homes and new commercial spaces. The goal is to link the innovation zone to the University of Salford campus.

The work will create an elevated green walkway, making it easier to get around. Initial work started last year, and the project should wrap up by summer 2026.

It’s partly funded by £13.17 million from the government’s Levelling Up Fund. The regeneration is a partnership between ECF, Salford council, and Salford University.
