Manchester: This weekend, the city is buzzing with excitement for Chinese New Year. The celebrations kick off in the city center, bringing a lively atmosphere.

Chinese New Year falls on January 29, but the fun starts on February 1 and 2. Manchester’s Chinatown will be the heart of the festivities, also known as the Spring Festival.

Expect to see red lanterns, hear music, and enjoy performances. It’s all about celebrating the Year of the Snake with family-friendly activities.

The dragon parade is a highlight. It features a stunning traditional dragon, acrobats, dancers, and drummers. You won’t want to miss it!

Chinese New Year is a big deal in China. Lunar New Year is celebrated by many Asian communities worldwide, including in the UK and the US.

The parade starts at noon on February 2, at the junction of Oxford Street and George Street. It will wind through Portland Street and end in Chinatown.
