A Liverpool family faces a nightmare after a mum’s severe injury in Egypt’s desert during a quad biking adventure

Liverpool: A family trip to Egypt turned into a real-life horror story. Josh Charles, 26, took his mum, Samantha Perry, on a birthday getaway. They had saved for a year to make it happen.
Just two days in, they decided to go quad biking in the desert. That’s when disaster struck. Samantha, 47, fell off her bike and ended up pinned underneath it.
Josh was in front and kept checking on her. Suddenly, he turned around and saw her trapped. He rushed back, lifted the bike off her, and was horrified to see her arm badly injured, with blood everywhere.
He quickly wrapped his headscarf around her arm to stop the bleeding. “If I hadn’t done that, she might not have made it,” he said. It was just the two of them; the rest of the group had gone ahead.
Luckily, a guide from another tour came by after a few minutes. They called for an ambulance, and Samantha was rushed to the ICU.
Josh felt like his world was crumbling. He described the moment he saw his mum in such a terrible state. “I’ve been in the army, but nothing compares to this,” he shared, clearly shaken.
To make matters worse, the family didn’t have travel insurance. They were told they’d need to pay £28,000 for hospital bills and to bring Samantha back home.
“We saved all year for this trip, and now everything’s fallen apart,” Josh said. To help with the costs, he started a GoFundMe campaign. He just wants to get his mum home safe.
