Residents in Prestwich are voicing strong concerns over a proposed children’s care home. The plan has sparked over 20 objections, highlighting fears about community impact.

Polarity Care Ltd wants to change a four-bedroom house on Mowbray Avenue into a home for three young people. They say six staff members will support the kids, working in shifts. The goal is to help these children live like a normal family.
But not everyone is on board. There are 22 objections, while only nine people support the idea. Some residents worry that having at-risk kids nearby could lead to crime and noise. Others fear their own kids won’t be able to play outside anymore.
Concerns about traffic and losing rental properties have also been raised. On the flip side, supporters argue that this home would provide essential support for those in need. They believe it could help tackle housing shortages and promote inclusivity.
A report from a Bury Council officer will be presented to the planning committee. It mentions that many objections aren’t relevant to the planning decision. The report emphasizes that children in care come from diverse backgrounds and that proper safeguards are in place.
The committee will review the proposal on Tuesday, January 28. It’ll be interesting to see how this unfolds.
