Some areas of Etherow Country Park will be closed for essential repairs. The work is expected to last about a year, so plan your visits accordingly.

Compstall: Some parts of Etherow Country Park will be closed soon. The council is doing important maintenance work to keep the park safe and beautiful.
This park is a lovely 240-acre nature reserve. It’s been around since 1968 and is home to many plants and birds. People love visiting this green space.
Once an industrial area, it has a reservoir fed by the River Etherow. The council needs to inspect and repair some structures, including bridges. They announced this work will start soon.
Much of the work will affect the river and reservoir. So, some areas will be off-limits while they’re being fixed. The project will take about a year, finishing in early 2026.
They might need to remove some plants, but they’ll try to put them back later. Grace Baynham, a council member, understands how much people love the park.
She reassured everyone that this maintenance is for future generations. While the work is happening, some areas will be closed. She asks everyone to respect these closures for safety.
