Following an attempted abduction of a schoolgirl, police are investigating six reports of suspicious males in the Irlam area.

Irlam: So, there’s been a pretty scary situation going on. Police just put out a statement after an attempted abduction of an 11-year-old girl. This happened on Tuesday morning while she was on her way to school.
Apparently, a man and a woman in a car and a van tried to grab her. It all went down on Silver Street around 8:30 AM. The police are on the hunt for these two suspects, and they’re taking it seriously.
But that’s not all. Just a few hours later, there was another report of a man lunging at a year seven student in Urmston, which is just a few miles away. Parents are understandably worried, and schools are sending out warnings.
One local councillor, Lewis Eric Nelson, is really concerned about the community feeling targeted. He’s been vocal about the alarm these incidents have caused.
So far, there have been six reports of suspicious males in the Trafford area this week. The police have looked into these reports and checked CCTV, but they found no wrongdoing in five of them. They’re still investigating one report of common assault.
Interestingly, the descriptions of the people involved have varied quite a bit, and the police don’t think they’re all connected. Detective Superintendent Alicia Smith reassured everyone that protecting kids is their top priority and they’re on it.
She also reminded folks not to spread unverified info online and encouraged anyone with concerns to reach out to the school or call the police. To help ease worries, they’re increasing patrols around schools during busy times.
As for the suspects, the male is described as white, about 5’9″, with short dark hair, wearing blue jeans and a black hoodie. The female was also white, dressed in leggings and a black hoodie. They were seen in a black four-door car and a small white van.
If anyone has info, they can contact the police or reach out to Crimestoppers anonymously. It’s a tense time, but the community is coming together to keep everyone safe.
