A pedestrian tragically lost his life in a three-vehicle crash on the M6 near Wigan, prompting police to seek witnesses and dashcam footage
Wigan: It’s a sad day after a man was hit and killed on the M6. This happened during a crash that involved two lorries and an Audi. The police had to shut down part of the motorway on Sunday afternoon.
Emergency services rushed to the scene at Hunger Hill, which is between junctions 27 and 28. They got the call just after 3 PM about a collision that included a pedestrian and those vehicles.
Sadly, the man in his 30s was pronounced dead right there, despite the efforts of the emergency teams. His family has been notified and is getting support from specially trained officers.
Police are still looking into what happened and are asking anyone who saw the crash or has dashcam footage to come forward. Sergeant Laura Kendall from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit expressed her condolences, saying it’s a heartbreaking situation for the man’s family.
She also thanked everyone for their patience while the investigation was underway, noting that the motorway was quite busy at that time. If you have any information or footage from between 2:45 PM and 3:05 PM, please reach out to Lancashire Police.
