Commuters at Stockport Train Station were puzzled today by a sudden name change. The station temporarily became ‘Scottport’ to celebrate DJ Scott Mills’ new role at BBC Radio 2.

Stockport: This morning, commuters were scratching their heads at Stockport Train Station. The sign had been changed to ‘Scottport’, and people were confused.
One user on X shared a photo of the new sign, asking, “What is going on at Stockport station?” Another passenger chimed in with a similar question from inside a train.
So, what’s the deal? The station was renamed ‘Scottport’ for just one day. It’s all to celebrate DJ Scott Mills taking over the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show.
Don’t worry, though! The name change is temporary. A station spokeswoman mentioned that the team worked overnight to make this happen.
She told Mills on air, “All the information screens and signage have been changed from Stockport to Scottport.” It was a fun way to welcome the DJ to his new role.
Mills, who used to live nearby, called the changes “bonkers” and “like a fever dream.” He was grateful for the effort the station team put in.
Davina McCall also praised Mills, calling him an “amazing broadcaster.” She sent him a supportive message on his first day, expressing her excitement.
She said, “Scott, it’s Davina, oh my goodness you are amazing! I love it.” It’s clear that everyone is rooting for him as he starts this new chapter.
