Manchester: So, Andy Burnham recently admitted that a quarter of the Bee Network buses were late last week. He was pretty straightforward about it, saying the services aren’t quite where they should be.

During a meeting with Manchester councillors, he made a promise to improve things. It was a bit surprising, but everyone seemed to appreciate his honesty and gave him a round of applause.

He mentioned that the bus services have been affected by some recent changes. Even though things aren’t perfect, he believes they’re already better than what was there before.

Last week, he said the buses had a 75% punctuality rate, which is an improvement from the low 70s before the Bee Network started. He’s confident that with more buses and better planning, things will keep getting better.

Burnham also talked about working with local councils to make the roads better for buses. They’ve added more buses to certain routes, and it seems to be helping.

However, he did acknowledge that there are still some issues, especially with school services. Parents have been pretty upset about delays, and he’s aware of the complaints.

One parent shared a frustrating story about long waits for the bus, which caused them to lose money. Another dad mentioned how the bus app was unreliable, making it hard for parents to pick up their kids on time.

It’s clear that while there’s progress, there’s still a long way to go. Burnham is hopeful that with time, the Bee Network will become a reliable option for everyone in Manchester.
