Manchester: Jeff Whitefoot, a true legend of the Busby Babes, has passed away, leaving behind a fortune of £200,000 for his two children. He lost his wife, Ellen, just 11 months before he died, and they had been married for 65 years.
Whitefoot made his debut for Manchester United at a young age of 16. He was part of an incredible team that included stars like Duncan Edwards and Eddie Colman. He played under the legendary Sir Matt Busby and helped the team win the First Division title in 1956.
In 1957, he decided to join Grimsby Town for more playing time, a choice that ultimately saved his life. Just three months later, the tragic Munich Air Disaster claimed the lives of eight of his former teammates.
Whitefoot lived a long life, passing away at 90 years old on June 24. His wife, known as Nell, died on July 24, 2023. They had two children, Judith and Peter, who will inherit his estate.
After his football career, he ran a pub in Oakham, Leicestershire. His estate documents show a gross value of £205,690, with a net value of £200,040. He had appointed his wife and children as executors of his will.
Whitefoot enjoyed a successful career, winning the First Division title twice and the FA Cup with Nottingham Forest in 1959. He was remembered fondly by both Manchester United and Nottingham Forest for his skill and contributions to the game.
