A driver was arrested after their passengers fled the scene, leaving them behind during a police patrol in Leigh
Leigh: So, here’s the scoop. A driver caught the eye of the police after their mates decided to bail on them. It all went down on a Sunday when officers were cruising around Butts Street.
According to the Greater Manchester Police, the car suddenly stopped, and just like that, the passengers took off, leaving the driver all alone. Talk about a rough night!
GMP Wigan even shared a pic of the silver Kia Picanto just sitting there in the road. When the officers chatted with the driver, they quickly realized something was off.
Turns out, the driver wasn’t fit to be behind the wheel. They got arrested on suspicion of drug driving. A spokesperson from GMP Wigan mentioned that the officers were patrolling a known trouble spot when they spotted the car acting suspiciously.
After talking to the driver, they did a roadside test and found drugs in their system. Now, they’re off to custody for further testing. Drug driving is a big deal and can lead to serious accidents, so it’s good the police were on it!
