A personal trainer was arrested after begging not to be banned from the gym. He feared the victim might report him to the police for his inappropriate actions.
Lawrence, 42, befriended the girl at the gym. He offered to help her with her fitness and diet. But things took a dark turn when he started making inappropriate advances.
The gym staff noticed something was off. They were worried about the girl’s age and reported Lawrence to the police. He had even told the gym manager not to ban her, fearing she might go to the police.
When the police investigated, they found a lot of evidence. Lawrence had been in contact with the girl over 3,000 times in just a month. Many of those messages were explicit.
The victim bravely told her mother about the assaults. She described how Lawrence took her to the cinema and then assaulted her in his car.
Lawrence was arrested at an airport while trying to start a new job. He pleaded guilty to several charges and was sentenced to nearly four years in prison.
Detective Constable Amy Brookes spoke about the case. She praised the victim for her bravery and emphasized the importance of supporting those who come forward.
