A fire broke out at a synagogue in Salford, prompting an investigation. Firefighters worked for hours to control the blaze, which caused significant damage to the building.
Firefighters battled the flames for about 14 hours. They got the call around 5 PM on Friday. Crews from all over Greater Manchester rushed to the scene.
The fire started in the offices on the top floor. Luckily, no one was inside those rooms at the time. But people were gathering for evening prayers downstairs.
Some folks noticed the smoke and quickly alerted others. They called emergency services and helped evacuate the building. It could have been much worse if it had started later.
Nachman, part of the synagogue management, said about 50 people were inside. He mentioned that the number could have easily exceeded 200 if it had been a bit later.
The fire was finally under control after several hours. Today, the investigation continues as teams assess the damage. Early signs suggest it might have been an electrical fire. The community is rallying together, showing support during this tough time.
