Stockport: So, there’s this mum, Rachel Vickers, who got into some serious trouble for defrauding her workplace. She swindled over £10,000 from a publishing company where she worked. Crazy, right?

She was working at Practical Publishing for seven years when things went south. Apparently, she sent out a bunch of equipment to a fake customer and pocketed the cash. The court heard she sent out 153 machines, which is just wild!

When her bosses noticed some weird stuff in the order books, they decided to investigate. That’s when they found out that the orders were going to someone who wasn’t even a customer. Talk about a big mistake!

In total, about £10,385 worth of equipment went missing, but she only made around £6,000 from it. Still, that’s a hefty amount to lose for the company.

What’s even more surprising is that this isn’t her first run-in with the law. She had a previous fraud conviction back in 2015. Her lawyer argued that she was in a tough spot financially, especially since she just had a baby.

The judge, however, wasn’t too pleased with her actions. He said it was a serious abuse of trust but decided to suspend her eight-month prison sentence. He was worried about how jail time would affect her young child.

In the end, she got an 18-month suspended sentence and has to do some rehabilitation work. It’s a wild story, and it makes you think about the choices people make!
