Manchester: The streets were buzzing with energy as thousands flocked to Chinatown. They came to celebrate the Chinese New Year and enjoy the spectacular Dragon parade.

This year’s festivities kicked off on January 29 and will last for weeks. On February 2, Chinatown turned into a lively hub filled with food stalls, rides, and more.

Families filled the streets, soaking in the joyful atmosphere. Kids were excitedly led by their parents, and the sound of firecrackers filled the air.

The Wong family, originally from mainland China, shared their excitement. They believe these celebrations help their kids connect with their heritage and teach others about their culture.

Local couple Belle and Lewis were back for their second Lunar New Year celebration. They wanted to recreate the festive vibe they love from Hong Kong.

Lewis appreciated the community spirit, saying it’s great for locals to learn about their traditions. He wished for peace, a better economy, and good health for everyone.

Four data science students from the University of Manchester joined the fun for the first time. They were thrilled to see such a large turnout and wished for prosperity for the city.

With roads closed to traffic, people had plenty of space to enjoy the parade. Some even climbed onto window ledges to get a better view of the colorful dragon and performers.

Despite a slight delay, the parade was a hit, with cheers from the crowd. Kids received small red envelopes filled with treats, adding to the festive spirit.

This year marks the year of the Wood Snake on the traditional lunisolar calendar. It’s a special occasion, as the Wood Snake is a rare zodiac sign.
