A woman has been banned from owning pets after her dog was found in terrible condition. The RSPCA intervened when they noticed significant health issues with the dog.
Westhoughton: A woman named Emma Conway is in hot water after her dog, Harley, was found in a really bad state. The RSPCA got involved when they heard about Harley’s skin issues.
When the officer arrived, Harley was wearing a coat that hid her serious skin problems. The officer described her skin as thick and rough, almost like rhino skin, and she had lost a lot of fur.
Conway was told about the RSPCA’s concerns and agreed to take Harley to the vet. But when the officer asked to see Harley without the coat, it was clear how bad things were.
The vet confirmed that Harley had a chronic ear infection and a long-standing skin disease. Poor Harley was in pain and had been suffering for weeks, maybe even longer.
After some treatment, Harley’s condition didn’t improve. The vet suggested putting her to sleep to stop her suffering. Conway admitted she should have done more for Harley.
In court, Conway pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to an animal. She received a five-year ban on owning pets, a community order, and had to pay fines.
